Thanks to East Village Local Experts—the 4SQ users who pay it forward with tips and likes—we identified some of the truly local places in this happening 'hood. Tips? All from the experts themselves.
Red Fabbri: The best pizza in the neighborhood, and maybe even the city. Eat-in: get the octopus and any of the pizzas. Take-out: the margarita pie and brussels sprout/pancetta white pie, no sides.
FDR Dr N (btwn E 14th & Grand St), Nova Iorque, NY
Parque · Alphabet City · 55 dicas e avaliações
DoubleDeuce: If you run South on the path, there's a great moment, you suddenly notice Lady Liberty at the end of the island. You're in New York City and she's right here with you. Terrible turf fields though.
40 Avenue B (btwn E 3rd & E 4th St), Nova Iorque, NY
Restaurante Mexicano · Alphabet City · 176 dicas e avaliações
AmateurConcierge: Some of the better Mexican cuisine in lower Manhattan. Ask them to spice up the pineapple margarita, get some guac and whatever entree strikes your fancy
Restaurante de Ramen · Alphabet City · 303 dicas e avaliações
RC: I have to lower many other ramen reviews I've made now. This place is on a different level. So much flavor! Rich broth and the noodles, a good chew. The Char Siu was fall-apart tender. So good!
85 Avenue A (btwn E 5th & E 6th St), Nova Iorque, NY
Casa de Sushi · East Village · 146 dicas e avaliações
Omer Zach: From 5 to 7 every day $21.50 gets you miso soup, a salad, 4 appetizers, 4 skewers, a sushi roll, 3 nigiri pieces, a scoop of ice cream, and hot tea. One of the best deals in the East Village.
511 E 12th St (btwn Avenue A & B), Nova Iorque, NY
Restaurante Neo-Americano · Alphabet City · 316 dicas e avaliações
Red Fabbri: Our favorite restaurant in the 'hood. Amazing local American food. Kale Salad, heritage pork, and a must-have rotating dessert. Everything on the menu is good and seasonal.
125 E 11th St (btwn 3rd & 4th Ave), Nova Iorque, NY
Casa de Shows · Greenwich Village · 316 dicas e avaliações
Kathryn Yu: Go to Webster Hall to see a band. If you have a paper ticket, the line is usually further down the block. Don't get stuck in the will-call line.
Casa de Shows de Jazz e Blues · Alphabet City · 77 dicas e avaliações
DoubleDeuce: Mostly I come here for the Happy Hour prices but it's got a unique energy for being a mostly red-light lit cocktail bar. And it's small-group themed, so it's lots of small, quirky, fun conversations.
J Crowley: One of my favorite bars in the east village. Buck hunter, skee ball, darts, and pool tables. Play all four games in a World Series with your friends.
Ranu Rajkarnikar: Lots of tv's, great bloody marys and buck hunter/pinball. Friendly staff, chill vibe and all around great neighborhood dive. You can even order food in, no problem.
