Nice spot if your lady wants to hang on the beach while you're surfing. North or south side of the pier, depending on tide and swell. Cool spot also to snap some surfer's pictures from the pier.
If you are a surfer, this is the place to be. Great for people watching and lazy walks. The sunset is a must see. Make sure you bring a sweater as it gets quite windy. Good restaurants near by.
Manhattan Beach Pier has an assortment of fun activities going on. Love the mini aquariam at the end, fun to visit and learn more about sea life in The Pacific. Underneath is a popular spot for photos

Take a stroll to the end of the pier and visit the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab & Aquarium, a museum with exhibits dedicated to California aquatic life.
A great place to shoot pictures, especially near sunset. With the ocean, the setting sun, and the ability to use the "open shade" under the pier, I always get a good shot.
