Team trinity is a team of athletes, ranging in age from the early-20s to the mid-60s, & range in athletic experience from olympic-level to daily fitness enthusiasts. We come from different backgrounds, countries & professions, & each have a story to tell about how we became members of team trinity. A common goal – to be stronger, everyday – ties us together. To this end, we train for & participate in a variety of athletic events, from running to cycling to competitive taekwondo. Our home base, trinity fitness, is a locally owned women’s gym dedicated to health through strength of body, mind & spirit.
Self Defence
Self Defense
Course includes: 5 weekly group classes providing instruction of practical techniques that can prevent you from becoming a victim. Interactive hands on instruction & practice of techniques. Covers basic punches, elbows, knees, kicks, single & multiple attackers, attacks w/ a knife or gun, & other life threatening situations. Access to all kickboxing classes during the duration of the course. Week 1 – introduction & fundamentals: the basics to punches, elbows & grabs 4in the first week of this program, participants will learn how to avoid being targeted by attackers. We will discuss what attackers look for in victims & how to avoid putting yourself in possibly harmful situations. Participants will also hear stories of real attacks & how the women defended themselves. This will be followed by a practical segment, in which class members will learn & understand basic punches, elbows, & basic wrist & shoulder grabs, as well as primary targets to attack. Week 2 – kicks, knees & advanced grabs in the second week, we will progress to more difficult situations to deal w/ & learn more advanced defensive grabs. A variety of grabs will be demonstrated, some initiated from the front & some from behind, & some may even put you on the ground. You will learn how to stay calm & use your body as a tool to defeat & escape an attacker. Week 3 – cycling, running & ground attacks, the third week covers out door safety strategies for attacks on trails & other public recreational areas. After learning outdoor safety the class moves to ground attacks. Instructors show how to escape from an attacker that has you on the ground. Week 4 – automobile, multiple attackers & knife attacks if an attacker enters your car, what do you do? The first part of week 4 covers automobile safety. These simple & practical techniques will keep you safe. All attacks this far have been from single attackers. The class gets its first look at multiple attackers coming at the same time & different directions. Learning to stay calm & rely on what they’ve learned to avoid, defend & evade. Week 5 – defensive strategies against a gun attack!
