Like all places, it's hit or miss. Took 3 waitresses before we ordered, and it's pretty amazing that you need to explain what a hot roast beef sandwich is... Sometimes it's the twilight zone here.

Since the fall of the Melrose a few years ago, this is the new diner to go to in South Philly. Great food, great people! You are bound to run into someone you know if you live in South Philly : )

Starting 1/1/19, Penrose is no longer going to be 24 hours. New hours are 6 am to midnight daily.
Eric E BayirAgosto 7, 2017The smallest Philly cheesesteak I had in the city, without anything inside, and its taste was not that good. No WiFi inside Penrose. Total failure, I regret to have gone there. By the way, not cheap!

- Don't expect to have a quiet meal if they sit you all the way in the back. That's where they usually put all of the rowdy young kids.
