The wait in line will be worth it if you want a pastry and good espresso. Morning buns are ace, but everything's great.
With the SF MOMA out of commission for a few years this is the best large art museum available. Check it out while you're exploring Golden Gate Park.

My default cafe. Everything's good here. Ask for the (heated) patio on the back (it's through the kitchen if they let you seat yourself).
For your cocktail and whiskey needs if you're downtown. Walkable, but if the TL weirds you out just take a cab here.
Bar inside a bar. Go through Dalva (bar) and past the bathrooms to get here. Best cocktails I've had in the city. Gets busy late at night and on weekends. Get here on the earlier side for quiet.
Less of a pain to get to and up than Twin Peaks Summit, great views. Hit it after brunch at Starbelly.
Excellent Burmese. Tea leaf salad is impressive as a starter (even if you hate salads!).
Amazing rum/tiki drinks. Go early or on a weeknight—otherwise wait in line like you're trying to get into a club in LA outside.
If you're going to do your real drunk bar thing in the Mission, end your night here from midnight or so onwards.
Excellent views day or night. Pair with a visit to Tony's pizza. You'll burn a few calories working your way up...
Best pizza in SF in any style. Worth the (usually short) wait over getting a slice next door.
Take the N to Ocean Beach (end of the line) then walk north along the ocean. Then keep north to the Sutro Baths and this trail. Nice view of Golden Gate Bridge at the end if it's not foggy.
Tiburon is less flooded with tourists than Sausalito, but still offers awesome views of SF. Take the ferry from SF and back for fun. Food and ice cream await. Angel Island via Tiburon is great too!
Get tacos. Super fresh pico de gallo. Grab for lunch then head south on Valencia Street for your hipster-tourist boutique shopping.
Get a burrito. Their special salsa is worth ordering an extra side of for your chips and well... everything else. Put it on everything.
She ain't cheap, but this is the best men's store in the city. Nice gift and coffee-table book selection too.
