Another great place to visit and is quite similar to Kuala Gandah in Malaysia, except that this is in a much larger scale. You'd love the place for sure. Best to come in the mornings.

Pinnawala is a government-run place where you're not allowed to touch the animals and it's all run by trained handlers, as opposed to Millennium. Entry is 2500 LKR for foreigners, 700 LKR for SAARC.

Nice experience, you can get close to many elephants and take pictures very close to them... some baby elephants are free and walking all around... the only bad thing is that it is a bit expensive

Come here targeting the times where they feed the elephants and take them for a bath. They're the best times. Also don't hesitate to feed these little Cubs. They're so cute!!

It's definitely a highlight of Sri Lanka, however be aware of the "trainers" shamelessly asking you for tips after they willingly help u snap photos etc. One guy had the nerve to ask me for 2000 LKR!

Stop paying for cruelty! Be a decent human being and go and see these amazing animals in the wild in Sri Lanka's national parks. This is not an orphanage, it's an exploitative zoo for tourists.

A perfect place for elephant lovers & nice stuff in the souvenir shop as well, also FYI discount on tickets who are from SAARC countries.

Definately amazing to watch these animals. Worth checking the time they head for a bath and head back. Buy bananas to feed them, they will come up close to you

A lot of the tips here are NOT about Pinnawala but for Millennium Elephant "Orphanage" down the road. Tuk-tuk drivers get commission for taking you to the other place hence they push so hard for it.

The worst place on Sri Lanka so far. So called orphanage is slave farm with no freedom and a lot of cruelty for elephants. Avoid it and spend your money for some more pleasant things.

Poor elephants! They are tied up with chains, guards "motivate" them with sticks to dance or to do other things they don't want to do.. They should learn from Thailand guys, which don't hurt elephants

Be careful of hooker-ins who hard-sell visits to herbal and spice gardens and riding on elephant, they will bilk out you.

Not far from the Pinnavela there is another foundation - skating, feeding, bathing the elephants. But it's not what u need! Don't be deceived

не спутайте с Millenium Elephant Foundation, где несколько несчастных слоников в цепях за 3 тыс.рупий с человека по тычку палки поливают себя водой и едят из рук бананы. мы отказались на них кататься.
