There's something of the Sweeney Todd about this place. The coffee is so rich they must be putting something illicit in there. Peer down into the basement to see some suspicious equipment.
An amazing bar stuck firmly in the 1980s in terms of its decor and menus. But superb views and guaranteed minor celebrities from the neighbouring BBC.
Pssst...it's the favourite coffee shop of FourSquare, whose new London office is nearby. Hang about long enough, and you might hear some gossip.
It's like someone designed the perfect lure to ensnare John Prescott. Also, tell them you work in the nearby offices and they'll cheerfully give you 10% off.
Have a drink on the toilet. The old prison cell rooms in the bar include a (non-functional) water closet.

As far as $14 cocktails go, the saisonniere is really quite special. Oysters, asparagus, and octopus as starters! Steak frites = real deal. Finish with the chocolate-almond torte and then die happy.
Awful, awful service. Dumplings were good, but the meat dishes were pretty much all fat in very greasy sauces. Not recommended. Go to Jen's Cafe round the corner. Amazing and super cheap.
A really nice, independent restaurant. Better than chains and well worth a visit -been many times and doesn't disappoint.
Be sure to order the Green Destiny cocktail. God it's good. Zubrovka bison grass vodka, muddled with kiwi, cucumber and apple.
