Brett Elliott: You know it’s a big chicken fry when you have to turn your phone sideways to get a picture! And it’s very good! Sides are nothing special but with a chicken fry this big who needs sides?
Brett Elliott: I got a half bird with a biscuit and it was very good. I did spend $20 for just me. I wish I had known there was a drumstick special. I would have gotten that instead but the waitress didn’t tell me.
Brett Elliott: There’s a ton of stuff in this museum for such a little town. It is worth a visit if you are in the area and are interested in Oklahoma history.
Brett Elliott: Don’t let the woman selling tickets talk you out of the tour like she tried to do us. Robin is a wonderful tour guide. Ike, LBJ, and Rayburn were all here together in 1946. Tours start on the hour.
Brett Elliott: Good burgers and good fries but not cheap. Will cost about $10/person. Don’t ask for “small” fries. They will waste your time explaining they only have “medium”.
Brett Elliott: I got a spicy chicken schwarma. At first it didn’t seem spicy at all but by the time I finished it I was feeling the heat a little. But the flavor was really good and there is a lot of meat in it.
Brett Elliott: I got the cowboy skillet. It was not spectacular or anything but it was just good solid food. My wife says the open-faced beef sandwich was really good and so was the banana pudding.
Brett Elliott: I got the catfish and it was really good. I think it is the best catfish in the Durant/Colbert/Calera area. Catfish Platter in Willis and McGeehee’s in Marietta are a little better but this is good.
Brett Elliott: One of 5 pretty popular Mexican restaurants in Durant. But I think this one is the most reasonably priced. And the food is just as good as the others!
