Great place to shop for movies & everything. If you want something & you have the money, I'd advise you to get it because it's probably an 85% chance that it won't be there the next time you visit.
I am a recovering McKay addict. My floor almost collapsed under the weight of so many books. I bought a Nook and I think it may have saved the lives of myself and my family. Be warned readers.
I personally do not like this place. They have a lot of books, but never any books that I actually need (such as Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck). The atmosphere is creepy and unsettling as well.
This store use to have great prices on used books and trade in value was great if you returned for credit. Not so much anymore. If you know your title you can usually find it online cheaper. Shame.
My allergies go crazy when I come here from all the dust and mold from other peoples homes. I know this is not their fault, but just be warned you may be sneezy while waiting a long time for your #.
Seller beware. They had stickers on our books before they even made us an offer. After we declined we had to remove all of the stickers from the book covers.
It can be very difficult to find a specific item. Also watch the prices, some stuff is more expensive than buying new. If looking for kids' books, it's a gold mine.
The prices seem to have gone up with the move from the old store. I can still spend quite a while just browsing, but I haven't really purchased from here much in a while.
I went to the Knoxville Mckay last night Sun Feb 13 2012. I got there at 6:30 they closed at 7:00 and they would not let me bring my trades in.The rules are 30 minutes before closing Mckay employees!
A lot of their paperbacks cost more used than new. When I asked about this the girl laughed at me and said that they were not competing with anyone else and they could charge whatever they wanted to!
