Sit on the steps on the southern edge of the park for some of the best people watching in NYC. Extra credit if you grab a fruit smoothie thing from the guy on 16th and Union Square West.
One of my top 2 go-to spots for dinner in the East Village (the other being Casmir). I always go for: strip steak medium rare, béarnaise sauce, fries, escargot, cabernet. (ps: decent brunch too)
Kind of an under-the-radar pick, but the burger here is one of the best I've had in NYC. Also, if you don't order the Scotch Egg I'm going to come down and punch you in the face. It's delicious.

Order a mug of straight up Mud coffee. Brunch here is actually very tasty, but sit on the back patio if you can or you'll smell like a kitchen for the remainder of the day.
