Bought by the Puritan founders of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1634, it's 20ha and the oldest public park in the US. This landmark is the first stop of the freedom trail.

Starting from his home, Paul Revere set out on his famous midnight ride in 1775 to warn his compatriots that the British were coming. Built in 1680, it is one of the oldest houses in downtown Boston.

Contrary to claims, Paul Revere was never a church member, his family was Congregationalist. But he was a bell-ringer here as a young man - the church still has the contract signed by him in 1750.
