Dale Tegman: Once was glitter/gutter "New Dawn Cafe." Super cheap extra breast eats and very strong coffee. The shelves above the entrance featured huge christmas balls and the pie case was full of hacked toys.
Dale Tegman: Past home to "Paula's Clubhouse." A mural of queer creatures dancing in outer space adorned the front. Thurs was the big night, "99 cent queer video" at 7 followed by "Junk" a vinyl disco party at 11.

Dale Tegman: The plain but lively "Pendulum" was the only bar geared toward black gay men in SF. It was purchased by a notoriously racist owner of block neighbor "Badlands." There were protests and even lawsuits!

Dale Tegman: 90's culinary legend Chef Albert Tjordman created the famous "Flying Saucer" here. California cuisine. Most entrees were sculptured to look like space vehicles and a red rocket hung in the front room.

Dale Tegman: "Eliza's" served Chinese on Wedgewood, with art glass and paper cut out murals all about. Used to be a downmarket favorite for notables in Opera/Symphony seasons. I met artist Frank Stella here!
Dale Tegman: "Coronet Theater" was once San Francisco's largest movie theater with over 1300 seats. "Star Wars" and "Bladerunner" premiered here! Lines for midnight opens often snaked through the parking lot.

Dale Tegman: "Josie's Comedy Club and Juice Joint" was tasty by day funny by night. Lots of LGBT comics called it home. "Late Night with Joan Jett Blakk" was staged here: an always-sold-out weekend favorite.
Dale Tegman: "Faerie Queene Chocolates," made fudge on premises: pumpkin, rose, grape soda. Feathers, silk and dolls for decor. Victorian signs with detailed descriptions of the imported chocolate and marzipan.
