Taxi to Hanoi center charge 350.000 VND only (~US$ 16.60), never pay more. There's so much scam by bad taxi drivers & touts, read carefully the PAQs at www.especen.vn/faq.htm to avoid trouble!

You have a fantastic view over Hanoi City and the Hoan Kiem Lake from the City View Café. You find this Café in the fifth floor of the building. The Jasmin Tea is very delicious there. ;-)

Make sure you eat and drink outside, before you step into the boarding area. Cos the drinks and food inside is like double compared to out there.

Get a mask 'cos it gets really dusty in the city. Change $ via banks or withdraw frm an ATM cos hotels r hiked up. Prepaid bbm (viettel)/sims r cheaper in the city too.
Always ensure you allow for a minimum of 1 hour travel time to Noibai from town. You never know when there's a jam, road or bridge repair, accident, etc.
Taxi from the airport to the Old District should be about 350 k, and should take about 40-45 minutes. Taxis can easily be found outside the terminals, and they are marked (Mai Linh is a good company)

Dont Go too early! I was 2 hours in advance and my plane was not yet on check-in screens. Then there's nothing to do to kill time till boarding. Go upstairs if you want quietness and toilet paper!
