I spent a full day exploring the dockyard when on vacation. I came down from London for the day and it was a great experience. They do a great job preserving the proud tradition of the Royal Navy
This WW2 cruiser, now a tourist attraction, took part in the sinking of the German battleship Scharnhorst and in the D-Day landings. Her guns are aimed at an M1 service station 12.5 miles away.
This is a very intetesting museum. Don't miss if you are ever in the area.

Built at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard & launched in 1942 just a year after the attack on Pearl Harbor, bringing the US into WWII. It was the 2nd ship the Navy named in honor of New Jersey

Midway was stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in 1997. During the decommissioning process, she was used to film portions of the documentary 'At Sea', showing at the Navy Museum in Washington D.C.
Fifty-five years ago, the submarine Growler was commissioned on August 30, 1958 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Be sure to stop by for a walk through the sub when you visit the Museum.
The ship is in Dry Dock at BAE Naval Ship Yard. Parking is terrible around here!
The U-505 is a Type IXC U-boat built by Deutsche Werft AG, Hamburg in 1941. Captured on 4 June 44 by USN Task Force 22.3. Donated to the Museum in 1954 and moved to it's present location in 2004.
