One of the best places in DC for a concert. If you're taking the Metro there, check the Metro closing hours before you leave home to ensure you don't miss the last train home after the show.
Locals: Sign up for Friends With Benefits. Points given for buying tix, scanning card at door, food, drinks. 1000 points gets you a free ticket to The Anthem. Fewer points has great prizes as well.
Has some of the best live acts, from the Pietasters to Public Enemy. The balcony has some of the best views and the only places to sit, but you have arrive early for them.
Bob Dylan has played three shows here, two in 1997 and one in 2004. Other greats to have graced the stage include Radiohead, the Beastie Boys, Adele, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Went to see LANY & Transviolet here. Great show. There is a room where you can view all of the records and cds of artists who have performed there. They also have non-alcoholic beer
Great energy! This is the view from the bar at the back. There are some seats on the balcony (get here about half an hour early for that) but it is more fun to be part of the crowd by the stage
One of the best and most intimate venues for seeing live music in town. For thirty years and counting – the 9:30 Club has brought the best local, indie and international bands to DC. Leia mais
Best club best shows regardless what everybody else claims best staff need I say more upstairs viewing and bar floor bar just an all around great place for shows!!
Best seat in the house: along the railing in the balcony towards the center. Best place to eat nearby: Ben's Chili Bowl (try the 1/2 smoke all the way w/ cheese fries to share). - Richard On of O.A.R.
Awesome venue. Overall best music going experience I have ever had in terms of getting drinks, food, merch, coat check, and music was LOUD but good sound.
Did you know that the 9:30 Club carries cupcakes from Buzz Bakery? They do! Check out our review: http://cupcakecrusaders.com/2013/03/20/rockin-the-930-club-cupcakes/
The club where I spent my youth and got to experience live music the way it should be. Continues to be the standard bearer for mid-size venues on the East Coast.
Just saw the Bosstones show here last night and was very impressed with the place. The view from the balcony was top notch, one of the best music venues I've ever been to!
Best spot ever. Reasonable beer prices, and right next to the Civil War Memorial metro. There's a little Ethiopian Restaurant across the street with great food and beer specials. Highly recommend.
If you wanna have a drink before the show or escape the crowd, sneak down to the back bar (down the stairs before you get to the bathrooms.) It's like a secret bar - never packed, cool space.
This is an excellent live music venue. Every seat is a good seat! There's also a small bar in the basement (where it's rumored that some performers hang out after their shows!).
Independent local venue brings in top acts. Decent views all around, but best views go fast. Don't worry about food if you're in a rush: they have great food at good prices. This is why I moved to DC.
Had a great time here. The parking lot behind the venue is great but small. And it is a little expensive for the parking itself. I wish it was included in the cost of the ticket...
If you arrive early you can walk around to the side and there is a set of stairs that leads down to 9:30's basementbar with easy access to the main stage room.
Founded by Dody DiSanto and Jon Bowers, the 9:30 Club was the home for alternative music in D.C. during the early 1980s and was a regular stopping point for bands touring the east coast.
Screw sold out nights unless you want to pay $50 for a listening party and not be able to even reach the bar. Sight lines? What sight lines? On a normal night, fine.
Check out their contests for free ticket giveaways on their listserv -- if you follow them on Facebook or Twitter and comment first, you can score some sold out seats!
NO PHOTO/NO VIDEO policy sure doesn't look strict to me...... 9:30 is lax on hacks but still hassles pros. As camera tech gets higher on smart phones the rules will inevitably have to change....
Get there a little early and settle in. My favorite spot is on the floor toward the back because it sounds the best. Just grab a beer, a cupcake, and enjoy! – Civil Twilight
